Fidias Panayiotou party enters the parliament
The political party Direct Democracy, led by Fidias Panayiotou, has secured seats in the Cypriot Parliament. Panayiotou stated that this success marks the beginning of a new political era, emphasizing that the party operated without external financial support. He expressed interest in collaborating with other parties to improve the country but has yet to clarify whether he will vacate his seat in the European Parliament to join the national legislature. During the election night in Meniko, media representatives collectively walked out in protest against the candidate's communication style and perceived lack of regard for journalists. Reports indicate that journalists waited for hours without receiving information or statements. Panayiotou expressed surprise at the performance of traditional parties and noted that the results exceeded his movement's expectations. He intends to decide on his future parliamentary role in the coming period.
