Dispute over Andronikos Kakoullis transfer to Omonia
Omonia Nicosia has announced a preliminary agreement to sign 25-year-old international forward Andronikos Kakoullis from Aris Limassol on a three-year contract. The player, who previously spent time at AIK Stockholm, had a successful stint with Aris, recording 39 appearances, 10 goals, and three assists. However, AIK Stockholm issued an official statement on June 9, 2026, asserting that they retain the player's rights as he is currently on loan until July 9, 2026, and that Aris does not have the authority to sell him. Omonia management and Aris spokesperson Kostas Papadopoulos have dismissed these concerns, characterizing the issue as a minor procedural technicality between the clubs that will be resolved by the end of the week. Aris confirmed that they have reached a verbal agreement with Omonia and expect financial compensation from the move. Meanwhile, Omonia is continuing its roster restructuring, including the departure of Angelos Andreou to Apollon and the search for a new primary goalkeeper. The club aims to bolster its squad depth to succeed in both domestic and European competitions under the direction of coach Henning Berg.
