Traffic collision near Dali and fire at a vehicle workshop in Nicosia
On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, a multi-vehicle pile-up occurred on the Limassol-Nicosia motorway near Dali. Sources differ on the number of vehicles involved, with reports mentioning either four or five cars. The accident was triggered by debris on the road; one vehicle struck the objects, leading to a collision with others. Three people were injured and transported to the hospital, though their conditions remain unclear. The affected lane was temporarily closed but has since reopened, despite ongoing heavy traffic. Separately, on the evening of June 8, 2026, a fire broke out at a vehicle paint shop in the Kokkinotrimithia Industrial Area. According to fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis, two vehicles were completely destroyed and seven others were damaged. The fire also caused extensive damage to the workshop's interior and equipment. Emergency services managed to prevent the spread of fire to flammable materials like solvents and compressed gas cylinders. Investigations into the causes of both the traffic accident and the fire are currently underway by the respective authorities.
