Cabinet approves revised water allocation for 2026
The Cabinet of Ministers approved a revised distribution of water resources for 2026 based on updated hydrological data and projected needs. This decision is part of a new three-year strategic management framework designed to ensure water security. Although recent rainfall has improved reservoir levels, the government has adopted a conservative approach based on the worst-case scenario for future hydrological conditions. As part of this revision, an additional 3.5 million cubic meters of water have been allocated specifically for irrigation. These extra supplies are reserved for professional farmers, with priority given to permanent crops. The government also continues to implement a comprehensive plan to address water shortages and mitigate the impacts of climate change. Coordination with the Paphos Water Supply Organization remains a key element of the current distribution strategy.
