Greek Prime Minister addresses Europe Gulf Forum in Costa Navarino

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis attended the Europe Gulf Forum held at Costa Navarino, an event co-organized by the Antenna Group and the Atlantic Council. During his address, Mitsotakis emphasized the need for Greece to look beyond its traditional Western orientation by strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with the Gulf region, Africa, and the South. He highlighted Greece's strategic role as a hub for energy, defense, and trade, acting as a bridge between the European Union and the Gulf countries. On the sidelines of the forum, the Prime Minister held bilateral meetings with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammi. Discussions with Georgieva focused on global economic impacts of the crisis in the Gulf, while the meeting with Stubb addressed the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine. With Lammi, Mitsotakis emphasized the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, noting Greece’s participation in the EU’s ASPIDES naval mission. IMF Director Georgieva praised Greece's recent economic recovery and reform progress during their talks.
