Akamas Municipality hosts the 2nd annual Fish Festival in Pegeia
The Municipality of Akamas held its 2nd annual Fish Festival at the St. George fishing shelter in Pegeia. The event was attended by hundreds of visitors from across Cyprus and featured free local fish cooked by chef Christiana Psylogeni and her team. The artistic program included live music performances by Stella Konitopoulou and Antonis Chavadakis, DJ sets, a flyboard show, and activities for children. The festival took place under the auspices of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Dr. Maria Panayiotou. Representing the Minister, fisheries officer Konstantinos Georgiadis noted the historical and economic importance of the local fishing community. He emphasized that the Ministry aims to protect maritime resources through the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund for 2021-2027. Mayor Marinos Lambrou expressed satisfaction with the high turnout and committed to continuing the event in future years. The initiative promotes both local coastal identity and sustainable fishing practices.
