Fatal car accident in Afantou, Rhodes

On Sunday afternoon, May 17, a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred in the Afantou area of Rhodes, near a supermarket. A 57-year-old mother and her 26-year-old daughter died after their vehicle was struck and overturned. Fire department personnel were required to extricate the two women, who were unconscious upon removal and were later pronounced dead at the hospital. Three other individuals—a father, his son, and another woman who were in the second vehicle—sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for medical care. The driver of the second vehicle was detained by police after receiving treatment. Criminal charges have been filed against the driver, who is scheduled to be brought before a prosecutor on Monday, May 18. The local traffic police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the collision.
