Cyprus betting market records significant growth in 2025

The National Betting Authority of Cyprus reported that the betting industry experienced dynamic growth in 2025, with the total amount wagered reaching 1.326 billion euros, an 8% increase compared to 2024. During the fourth quarter of 2025, revenues for licensed companies totaled 395.5 million euros, marking a 22% increase over the same period in 2024. Data shows a significant transition toward digital platforms, with online betting accounting for 301.4 million euros, or over 76% of the quarterly market share. In contrast, land-based betting agencies recorded 94 million euros in the same period. While the government notes increased state revenue from these activities, there is growing public concern regarding the prevalence of gambling among youth and students. The shift is attributed to the widespread use of mobile applications and digital platforms. Authorities continue to monitor the market as it transforms into an almost exclusively digital activity.
