AEL Limassol considers signing Portuguese defender Diogo Gomes
AEL Limassol is currently evaluating 25-year-old Portuguese center-back Diogo Gomes to strengthen its defensive line for the upcoming season. Gomes, who stands 1.93 meters tall, is expected to become a free agent after departing from the Portuguese third-division club Trofense. During the previous season at Trofense, he made 29 appearances and scored one goal. The defender is a product of the Leixoes youth academy and has previously played for Montalegre, Sao Joao de Ver, and Felgueiras. Throughout his career, he has logged 12 appearances in Liga Portugal 2, 9 appearances with Montalegre, 21 with Sao Joao de Ver, and 5 with Felgueiras. AEL management views his physical strength, aerial ability, and technical comfort with the ball as valuable traits. While the player is currently under evaluation, he is considered a high-priority target for the team's recruitment plan.
