Audit Office requests advertising expenditure data for 2026 legislative elections

The Audit Office of the Republic of Cyprus has issued a notice requiring all entities providing advertising services for the 2026 legislative elections to submit comprehensive reports on their services. This requirement is mandated by Article 52(6) of the Election of Members of the House of Representatives Law of 1979 (N.72/1979) as amended. Service providers must submit these reports to the Auditor General within one month of the election date. The Audit Office has published specific tables on its website for this purpose, which providers are encouraged to complete in Excel format. Table 1 is designated for advertising agencies acting as intermediaries, while Table 2 is for advertising media outlets such as television stations, radio stations, newspapers, and billboard providers. These providers must declare services rendered to each candidate or on their behalf. Failure to comply with these disclosure requirements is subject to the established legal framework governing election transparency. The initiative aims to ensure accountability and monitor campaign expenditures effectively.
