Vandalism reported against ELAM campaign materials in Cyprus

The political party ELAM and its candidate Zacharias Athanasiadis have reported widespread vandalism of their campaign posters and billboards ahead of the May 24 elections. Incidents occurred across Limassol, where numerous posters of Athanasiadis were painted over, and on the Larnaca-Limassol highway, where a large party billboard was defaced with multiple colors and markings. ELAM officials have formally condemned these acts, describing them as attempts at political censorship and intimidation. The party has called upon the relevant authorities to investigate these incidents and identify the perpetrators. While ELAM has characterized the attacks as manifestations of fascism, some reports noted that one of the billboard slogans was specifically tagged with the word 'LOL'. Candidate Zacharias Athanasiadis stated that he will not replace the damaged posters, choosing instead to donate the associated funds to those in need. The party maintains that such actions will not hinder its electoral campaign.
