Life Pharma-Detox project initiates second pilot phase in the Netherlands

The European project LIFE Pharma-Detox has commenced the second phase of its pilot stage following the relocation of its treatment unit to the Medochemie FAL facility in the Netherlands. This four-year project is co-funded by the EU LIFE programme and coordinated by the Cypriot pharmaceutical firm Medochemie. The primary goal of this phase is to test the technology's effectiveness in treating wastewater containing active pharmaceutical ingredients under actual industrial conditions. The consortium consists of five partners across four EU countries. These include Medochemie from Cyprus, Aarhus University from Denmark, NEVIS Novel Environmental Solutions S.A. from Greece, the National Technical University of Athens, and the University of Catania from Italy. The initiative seeks to develop sustainable environmental technologies for broader European application. By shifting the equipment to a different manufacturing environment, researchers aim to verify the system's performance and scalability for industrial wastewater management.
