Incident involving parliamentary candidate at Larnaca District Court

Savvas Zannoupas, a barrister and parliamentary candidate for the party Sikou Pano in the Paphos district, reported being attacked at the Larnaca District Court. According to Zannoupas, the incident occurred after a court ruled in his favor regarding a payment dispute. He alleged that the opposing party responded with verbal abuse, threats, and an attempted physical assault as he was leaving the courtroom. The party Sikou Pano issued a statement condemning the act, calling for the protection of judicial integrity and the physical safety of legal professionals. In contrast, Larnaca police spokesman Spyros Chrysostomou confirmed that an incident took place, but noted that no formal complaint has been filed with the authorities. Police are currently attempting to locate Zannoupas to determine if he wishes to initiate a legal process. The elections are scheduled for Sunday.
