Update on the school air conditioning installation project in Cyprus

The Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth of Cyprus has clarified that the installation of air conditioning units in schools is proceeding according to the established government plan. Officials emphasized that the project is complex because it requires upgrading aging electrical infrastructure that has not been updated for decades. This mandatory electrical work is a prerequisite to ensure the safety of students and staff before air conditioning units can be installed. Each school is undergoing an individual technical assessment to balance the speed of implementation with strict safety standards. The government has confirmed that funds are secured for this gradual rollout. Currently, air conditioning units are operational in all kindergartens and lyceums across Cyprus, as well as in a number of gymnasiums and primary schools. Future phases of the project will prioritize completing the installation in gymnasiums and continuing work in primary schools through ongoing cooperation with school boards and the Treasury.
