Movement of Ecologists – Citizens' Cooperation holds press conference on parliamentary record

On Monday in Nicosia, the President of the Movement of Ecologists – Citizens' Cooperation, Stavros Papadouris, held a press conference to review the parliamentary work of himself and party MP Charalambos Theopemptou. During the event, Papadouris expressed confidence that the party will secure seats in the upcoming parliament, citing historical electoral resilience since 2011. He noted that previous changes to electoral thresholds, introduced by larger parties in 2016, posed initial risks but ultimately strengthened the party's visibility. The party currently holds three seats and hopes to maintain or expand its parliamentary presence to ensure votes are not diverted to larger political entities. Regarding legislative achievements, Papadouris emphasized initiatives focused on protecting citizens from economic grievances. Key efforts included proposed laws to safeguard borrowers, protect primary residences, and ensure access to justice during foreclosure proceedings. Additionally, the party has focused on strengthening insolvency protections for vulnerable social groups.
