Larnaca port and marina development plans

Following a recent meeting at the Presidential Palace attended by President Nikos Christodoulides and local officials, the Cyprus Ports Authority (CPA) has been tasked with the full redevelopment of the Larnaca port and marina. The project aims to transform the port into a tourist-focused facility while continuing to manage compatible commercial cargo, with a priority placed on upgrading equipment to handle nuisances and protect public health. The marina will be expanded to increase capacity by approximately 200 boats. Additionally, 50,000 square meters of land will be allocated for urban development, and the coastal front of Larnaca will be unified. Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades confirmed that the CPA will present a comprehensive roadmap for these works by June 30. Local stakeholders and the Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Evel) have expressed satisfaction with the plan and the establishment of a monitoring committee to oversee the project. While specific project costs and exact timelines remain unknown, the CPA has stated it possesses the necessary resources to execute the development in phases.
