President Christodoulides addresses the 18th In Business Awards

During the 18th In Business Awards ceremony held in 2026, President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides highlighted the country's strong economic performance amidst international volatility. He reported that Cyprus achieved a 3% economic growth rate in the first quarter of 2026, which he described as the highest in the European Union, while keeping unemployment below 5%. The President noted that Indian businesses are increasingly choosing Cyprus as a gateway to the European market, a development linked to his recent diplomatic efforts following the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Christodoulides announced an upcoming diplomatic and trade mission to Mumbai and New Delhi aimed at fostering cooperation in technology, innovation, energy, and tourism. He emphasized that the government supports entrepreneurship and rejected criticisms regarding business profitability. Furthermore, the President highlighted ongoing government reforms in education designed to align with the needs of the labor market.
