72-year-old pilot rescued after plane crash in Brazilian jungle

A 72-year-old experienced pilot named Altevir Edson was rescued more than 24 hours after his single-engine aircraft crashed near the city of Belem, Brazil. The accident reportedly occurred after a vulture struck the propeller, causing the plane to lose altitude and crash into a dense forest. Upon finding the wreckage, authorities discovered the pilot was missing. It is believed that Edson attempted to walk to safety but became disoriented in the thick tropical vegetation. A search operation involving rescue dogs and drones eventually located him more than five kilometers away from the crash site. Rescue footage showed personnel wading through deep water to extract the pilot, who suffered from abrasions, limited mobility, and disorientation. After receiving initial first aid on-site, he was transported to a local hospital. Police also reported that personal items, including a watch, were recovered near the wreckage.
