Pavlos Kontides shares the lead at the ILCA 7 European Sailing Championship

Cypriot sailor Pavlos Kontides has risen to a share of the lead at the ILCA 7 European Sailing Championship in Kastela, Croatia. After finishing seventh, third, and second in the three final races on Wednesday, Kontides and New Zealander George Gautrey are now tied for first place with 23 penalty points each. Germany's Philipp Buhl follows in third place with 27 points. Kontides, a two-time Olympic silver medallist, entered the final phase in ninth place and successfully climbed the rankings. In the same competition, Aemilios Poeros is currently 31st in the bronze fleet for the ILCA 7 class. In the ILCA 6 category, Anatoly Zubovsky ranks ninth among men, while Marilena Makri is 60th among women. The competition, which began with qualification races on May 18, is scheduled to conclude on Friday after a final series of races.
