Anorthosis Famagusta fails to hire coach Jose Luis Oltra
Anorthosis Famagusta is continuing its search for a new head coach following a negative response from Spanish trainer Jose Luis Oltra. The club, currently undergoing a transitional period under new management, had identified the 57-year-old Oltra as a primary candidate for the 2026-27 season. Oltra, who previously managed AEK Larnaca in Cyprus from 2022 to 2023, declined the offer to return to the island. The club is operating under a strict transfer ban, which elevates the importance of the coaching appointment as the primary means of stabilizing the squad. Management is currently reviewing a shortlist of alternative candidates and expects to make an announcement within the week. In addition to the coaching search, the club is also looking to fill the position of managing director to oversee the team's football operations and strategy. The administration aims to secure a leader who can maximize the potential of the existing roster during this restricted period.
