Deputy Minister of Tourism discusses recovery of tourist flows

On Tuesday, Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis stated that Cyprus is experiencing a gradual recovery in tourist flows following a period of geopolitical instability. Speaking after a cabinet meeting, Koumis addressed concerns regarding recent performance, noting that current figures should not be compared directly to the record-breaking year of 2025. He emphasized that the comparison base from 2025 is extremely high, making year-on-year analysis complex. The deputy minister acknowledged that recent regional developments impacted tourism, a trend observed in several other destinations. Despite these challenges, he maintained that flight schedules remain stable and the tourism season is progressing as planned. The ministry is currently collaborating with industry stakeholders to support Cyprus's reputation as a safe and reliable destination. Koumis stated that while difficulties are recognized, current data does not support widespread pessimism regarding the sector's resilience.
