24-year-old man arrested for kidnapping and extortion in Nicosia district

On May 16, a 24-year-old male allegedly entered the residence of a 69-year-old woman in the Nicosia district. The suspect threatened the woman and obtained 200 euros from her. Later that same day, the suspect returned to the victim's home and forced her into his vehicle. He drove the victim to a bank, where he attempted to withdraw money using her credit card at an ATM. The attempt was unsuccessful, and the suspect subsequently returned the woman to her home. Following the victim's complaint to the police and the collection of evidence, a warrant was issued for the suspect's arrest. The Morphou Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) apprehended the individual. The Nicosia District Court ordered the suspect to be detained for six days while the investigation continues.
