Twenty-four-year-old arrested for kidnapping and robbery in Nicosia district

On May 16, a 24-year-old man allegedly entered the home of a 69-year-old woman in the Nicosia district and demanded money under threat. The woman surrendered 200 euros to the suspect before he initially left the scene. Later that day, the suspect returned to the woman's home and forced her into his vehicle against her will. He drove her to an ATM to withdraw more money using her bank card, but the attempt failed. After returning the victim home, the suspect was identified, leading to his arrest by the Morphou Criminal Investigation Department. The Nicosia District Court subsequently issued a six-day detention order for the suspect. The Morphou police continue their investigation into charges including kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, and extortion.
