24-year-old man arrested for kidnapping and robbery in Nicosia district

A 24-year-old man has been arrested by Morphou CID officers in connection with a series of crimes including kidnapping, illegal detention, and robbery. On Friday, May 16, the suspect allegedly entered the home of a 69-year-old woman in the Nicosia district and threatened her into giving him 200 euros. Later that day, the suspect returned to the victim's residence and forced her into his vehicle under threat. He transported the woman to a bank to withdraw additional funds using her credit card at an ATM, but the transaction was unsuccessful. After the failed attempt, the suspect returned the victim to her home. The 69-year-old reported the incident to the police, leading to the identification and issuance of an arrest warrant for the suspect. The 24-year-old was arrested yesterday and appeared before the Nicosia District Court, which ordered his detention for six days. Morphou CID continues to investigate the case.
