Allegations of sexual assault against participants of Married at First Sight UK
A BBC Panorama investigation has brought to light allegations from three former participants of the British reality show Married at First Sight UK, who report incidents of rape and sexual abuse by their television spouses during production. One woman, identified as Shona Manderson, alleges non-consensual sexual acts, while another participant using the pseudonym 'Lizzie' claims she was raped and threatened with acid by her partner. The participants contend that CPL Productions and Channel 4 failed to provide adequate welfare support or protection during the filming process. One victim claims she notified the broadcaster of the abuse prior to the episodes being aired, yet the show proceeded with the broadcast. In response to the outcry and ongoing scrutiny, Channel 4 has removed the relevant episodes from its platforms. The network has also initiated an external investigation into its safeguarding protocols. Meanwhile, CPL Productions has rejected the allegations, and sources indicate that some official statements have described the claims as baseless.
