Cyprus Theatre Organization concludes mountain community workshop program
The Cyprus Theatre Organization and the Troodos Mountain Communities Cultural Foundation concluded a pilot series of theatre workshops in the spring of 2026. The program focused on community memory and history, involving local residents of all ages in workshops and public performances. On May 9, 2026, in Kyperounta, facilitator Mikaela Theodoulidou presented a research-based performance regarding the local sanatorium, featuring elderly residents as participants. The community awarded commemorative plaques to former sanatorium staff who attended the event. On May 10, 2026, in Lania, theatre expert Nikoletta Prokopiou and her group presented research on the village's historic 800-year-old Royal Oak tree. This presentation was integrated into the community's annual event known as 'Dromakia kai Avles tis Lanias'. The initiative aimed to connect local history with modern theatrical expression.
