Regulations for ballot marking in the 2026 parliamentary elections
The Chief Returning Officer of Cyprus has announced specific requirements for voters participating in the 2026 parliamentary elections. Only blue or black pens are permitted for marking ballots. Any ballot marked with a pen of a different color will be declared invalid. To facilitate this, the election authorities will provide blue or black ballpoint pens inside every voting booth at all polling stations. Voters are strongly encouraged to utilize these provided instruments to ensure their votes are counted. This measure is intended to protect the validity of the ballots and prevent potential disqualification due to marking errors. No other writing utensils should be used by citizens when exercising their right to vote.
