APOEL defender Milos Degenek invited to Australian national team training camp

Milos Degenek, a 32-year-old central defender currently playing for APOEL, has been called up by Australia's head coach Tony Popovic to join a pre-training camp in Sarasota, Florida. This training session is part of the evaluation process for the final 26-man roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Australia is grouped with the United States, Paraguay, and Turkey for the tournament. Degenek, who joined APOEL in January, has recorded 11 appearances for the club, totaling 811 minutes of play. His current contract with the Cypriot club runs until May 2027. The final decision on the squad will be announced by the Australian football federation on June 1. Prior to this announcement, the team is scheduled to play a friendly match against Mexico on May 30. If selected for the final squad, APOEL may receive financial benefits related to his participation in the competition.
