Supreme Court postpones hearing on search warrant cancellation in Santi case

The Supreme Court of Cyprus has scheduled the next hearing regarding the request to cancel a search warrant at the home of lawyer Nikos Kliridis for June 4, 2026. The warrant was issued in connection with the ongoing Santi case, with Kliridis arguing that it was unnecessary and exceeded the court's authority. During the recent proceeding, the Legal Service requested additional time to review the applicant's 100-page petition. The court granted this request, ordering the Attorney General's office to file any formal objections by June 2, 2026. Failure to file an objection by this deadline will be interpreted as an acceptance of the cancellation request. Meanwhile, lawyer Alexandros Kliridis cautioned that police use of the seized evidence before the court's final ruling poses significant legal risks. He stated that if the warrant is eventually invalidated, any evidence obtained through it could be deemed inadmissible in court. The police have reportedly finished their investigation and submitted the file to the Legal Service.
