Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Shipping marks International Day for Women in Maritime

On Monday, the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Shipping held an event to mark the International Day for Women in Maritime, an observance established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Deputy Minister Marina Hadjimanoli emphasized the necessity of equality and inclusion for a sustainable maritime sector. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that support the professional participation and advancement of women within the industry. The event was attended by representatives of the maritime industry, members of WISTA Cyprus, and ministry officials. A key highlight was the presentation of the 2026 Cyprus Maritime Equality Award. The recipient of this award was Andreas Chrysostomou, CEO of Pivotal Step Limited. The award recognized his long-term contribution to promoting gender equality, inclusion, and the empowerment of women in the maritime sector, both in Cyprus and internationally.
