Turkey and Northern Cyprus discuss energy infrastructure projects

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz met with Northern Cyprus leader Unal Ustel and Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar in Ankara to discuss deepening energy cooperation. The discussions focused on enhancing the energy security of Northern Cyprus through various infrastructure developments. Key projects mentioned include the deployment of mobile power generation units, electrical grid interconnection via subsea cable, and the implementation of a natural gas pipeline from Turkey. Mr. Yilmaz stated these initiatives align with the broader vision of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the region. Mr. Ustel characterized the pipeline project as a significant development, noting that feasibility studies for the electrical interconnection are already complete. He further claimed that any existing political obstacles hindering these projects would be resolved with Ankara's support. The participants emphasized that these projects follow previous infrastructure successes, such as the water supply line from Anatolia.
