Aris Konstantinidis elected chair of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights management board
Aris Konstantinidis, an associate professor of international and human rights law at the University of Cyprus, has been elected as the chair of the management board of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). He will serve a two-and-a-half-year term in this role. The Vienna-based agency acts as an independent center for the promotion and protection of human rights within the EU, providing research and expert consultation to institutional bodies and member states. Konstantinidis was originally appointed to the agency's management board in July 2025 for a non-renewable five-year term. His academic expertise includes social rights and the rights of vulnerable populations and minorities. The management board, comprised of independent experts, oversees the agency's strategic priorities, budget approval, and project monitoring. His election was formally announced in May 2026.
