He publicly expressed his frustration that Panathinaikos failed to qualify for the event. Despite his disappointment, he described the venue as a masterpiece and predicted that this would be the best organized tournament in EuroLeague history. He made these remarks while confirming he would be watching the matches from home rather than in person as a participant.
