Democratic Rally holds final pre-election rally in Nicosia
On Wednesday, May 20, the Democratic Rally (DISY) held its final pre-election rally at the Old GSP stadium in Nicosia. The party's president, Annita Demetriou, served as the keynote speaker. The event was attended by Margaritis Schinas, the Greek Minister of Rural Development and Food, who represented the Greek government and the New Democracy party. Schinas emphasized Cyprus's strategic role within the European Union, stating that the country serves as a starting point for European developments. He described DISY as a force of stability, aligned with the vision of the party's founder, Glafcos Clerides. The minister warned against the rising threat of populism in the upcoming elections and urged voters to maintain Cyprus's orientation toward the West and Europe. Throughout his address, Schinas noted the necessity of patience and political courage in policy-making, citing his involvement in the European Pact on Migration and Asylum as an example of responsible governance.
