Eldyk soldier hospitalized with meningitis in Nicosia

A soldier serving with the Hellenic Force in Cyprus (ELDYK) is currently intubated in the intensive care unit at Nicosia General Hospital after being diagnosed with meningitis. According to Ministry of Defense spokesperson Christos Pieris, the soldier's condition is stable and he is currently fever-free. Officials stated that if his health continues to improve, he may be transferred to a high-dependency unit or discharged as early as tomorrow. In addition to the confirmed case, two other soldiers from the same unit are being monitored as suspected cases. The Ministry of Defense has implemented standard health protocols, including the disinfection of the camp and the administration of preventative medication to the soldier's close contacts. These contacts are also required to wear protective masks for a specified duration. The soldier's family in Greece has been formally notified of the situation.
