Cyprus to open trade centre in Mumbai to strengthen ties with India

President Nikos Christodoulides announced the establishment of a Cypriot trade centre in Mumbai, scheduled to commence operations on September 1. The initiative was unveiled during the Cyprus-India Business Forum, organized by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Invest Cyprus, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The centre is intended to function as a business hub, assisting Indian companies in accessing the European Union market through Cyprus. President Christodoulides emphasized that the project is part of a broader strategy to deepen economic, technological, and innovation cooperation between the two nations. This move follows an official visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Cyprus last year, which helped set the momentum for current investment growth. The President noted that several Indian firms have already expressed interest in using Cyprus as a gateway for European operations. The mission also aims to explore new partnerships in education, energy, and tourism sectors.
