OEB reminds employers of duty to facilitate voting for 2026 legislative elections
The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) has issued an official reminder to employers regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2026. The organization emphasizes that under the legislation governing the election of members of the House of Representatives, no voter may be deprived of their voting rights due to work obligations. Employers are legally mandated to make all necessary arrangements to allow staff to participate in the voting process. Polling stations will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a mandatory one-hour break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. OEB has officially notified the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance regarding these requirements. The directive aims to ensure full compliance with election laws to protect the democratic rights of all employees. Failure to provide such facilitation would constitute a violation of the existing legal framework.
