President Christodoulides addresses business forum in Mumbai

Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides addressed an Invest Cyprus roundtable event in Mumbai, India. He characterized Cyprus as a stable partner for India, emphasizing its strategic geographic position as a bridge to Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. During the discussion, the President highlighted that the Cypriot economy is experiencing some of the fastest growth rates within the European Union, alongside a significant reduction in public debt. He noted that foreign investment in the country exceeds 81 billion euros, representing more than 225% of the national GDP. Regarding European integration, Christodoulides stated that progress has been made toward Schengen Zone accession, with political decisions expected between late 2026 and early 2027. Furthermore, he emphasized the role of Cyprus in the development of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), describing it as a vital project for global connectivity.
