Cyprus prepares for parliamentary elections on May 24, 2026

Cyprus is finalizing preparations for the parliamentary elections scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2026, where citizens will vote for 56 members of the House of Representatives. Officials have begun distributing ballot boxes and election materials to presiding officers across all districts. A total of 1,217 polling stations will operate, including 13 centers abroad located in Athens, Thessaloniki, London, and Brussels, as well as 13 specialized centers for the Maronite religious group. In the Famagusta district, 59 centers are established, with 260 internally displaced voters assigned to the Acheritou Primary School. General Election Commissioner Elikkos Ilias confirmed that 454 centers will operate in Nicosia, 204 in Larnaca, 351 in Limassol, and 136 in Paphos. Political campaigning must cease at midnight on Friday to ensure voters cast their ballots without influence. Election officials have confirmed the process has proceeded without incidents, with all necessary materials provided to staff.
