Eurobank opens representative office in Mumbai

On May 21, 2026, Eurobank officially inaugurated its first representative office in India at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai. The event was attended by the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, who highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration for strengthening economic ties between India, Greece, and Cyprus. The office aims to act as a gateway for Indian businesses looking to expand into the European Union, while also supporting the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). As part of this expansion, Eurobank launched a cross-border payment service utilizing India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) infrastructure in partnership with NPCI International. This makes Eurobank the first bank from southeastern Europe to establish such a presence in India. Additionally, the bank announced the formation of the India-Greece-Cyprus Business and Investment Council in cooperation with the Indian Chamber of Commerce. This initiative follows broader EU-India trade agreements reached earlier in the year.
