Teacher arrested for sexual harassment of students in the north
A teacher at the Hala Sultan theological college in Mia Milia was arrested following allegations of sexually harassing five students aged 14 to 16. The suspect, a Turkish national, was apprehended while allegedly attempting to flee to Turkey. Reports indicate that students first reported the behavior to school staff, leading the administration to notify parents and contact the police. Yusuf Inaniroglu, the director of secondary education in the north, announced that the teacher has been removed from his post and that two inspectors have been appointed to conduct an administrative investigation. The KTOEOS teachers' union president, Ahmet Karaogullari, has publicly demanded a transparent investigation and criticized the lack of oversight regarding educators sent from Turkey. While the school's parent-teacher association stated that all necessary measures were taken and denied any attempt to cover up the incident, the union maintains that it will monitor the legal proceedings closely. Authorities have requested that the public avoid spreading information that could compromise the privacy of the students and their families.
