Europol announces arrests of two high-profile fugitives in international operations

Europol has reported the arrest of two individuals wanted for organized crime offenses in separate operations. A 29-year-old Turkish national, sought by German authorities for allegedly inciting an attempted murder in Ludwigsburg on April 26, 2025, was arrested in Turkey in early May 2026. This suspect had been featured on the EU's most-wanted list following an investigation by the Ludwigsburg Police and the Stuttgart Public Prosecutor's Office. In a separate action on May 15, 2026, Italian and Spanish authorities arrested a senior leader of the Camorra's Licciardi clan in Alicante, Spain. The individual, part of the Secondigliano Alliance, was wanted since June 2025 on charges of extortion using mafia methods. Investigative teams tracked the suspect to Alicante by monitoring the travel patterns of his relatives. The arrest was executed with the support of Europol while the suspect was in the company of family members.
