Cyprus launches eDEA digital education platform

The Republic of Cyprus has implemented the eDEA electronic education platform to digitize administrative and school processes across all educational levels, including pre-primary, primary, secondary, and technical education. With a total budget of €11,470,310, the project is co-funded by the European Union through the Thalia 2021-2027 Cohesion Policy Program and the Cypriot government. As of March 2026, the platform reached 173,845 active registered users, including parents and educators, with 103,553 student profiles created, surpassing the original target of 100,000 users. The system allows for electronic registration, grade and absence tracking, and direct communication between schools and parents. This centralized digital infrastructure aims to reduce bureaucracy and replace the need for physical presence in school-related administrative tasks. The Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth estimates that reducing administrative burdens will result in annual savings exceeding €2 million. This initiative is part of a broader national strategy to modernize public services through digital governance.
