Missing 33-year-old doctor found dead in Chania, Crete
A body discovered in the Fres area of the Apokoronas municipality in Chania has been identified as 33-year-old doctor Alexis Tsikopoulos. The man had been missing since December, when he last contacted his father in Thessaloniki to report that he felt unwell. Following his disappearance, authorities located his vehicle in the Apokoronas region, which became the focal point of extensive searches involving police, fire services, and volunteers from the OFKATH organization. The discovery was made late in the day at a site known as Regousi, located near the border of the villages of Fres and Tzitzifes. Local authorities, the Chania police chief, and a medical examiner arrived at the scene to conduct an initial investigation. The medical examiner ordered the departure of fire units to facilitate a thorough forensic examination. Investigations into the exact circumstances and causes of death are currently ongoing.
