Two-year-old girl dies after being left in a car in Brion, Spain
On Wednesday, a two-year-old girl died from heatstroke in Brion, Galicia, Spain, after being left inside her father's vehicle for several hours. The incident occurred when the father, distracted by an urgent phone call regarding work, reportedly forgot to drop the child off at her daycare after taking his older child to school. The girl remained in the back seat of the car parked at his workplace throughout the day during unseasonably high temperatures. Her absence was discovered around mid-afternoon when the mother arrived at the daycare to pick her up and was told the child had not arrived. Despite emergency services being called and the child being rushed to a health center in Bertamirans, she was pronounced dead due to cardiac arrest caused by extreme heat. Local authorities are investigating the circumstances of the tragedy. The municipal council of Brion has declared two days of official mourning and planned a minute of silence in memory of the child. The family is currently receiving psychological support.
