Five individuals plead not guilty to Larnaca criminal charges

Five individuals appeared before the Larnaca Permanent Assize Court today and pleaded not guilty to charges related to incidents on January 17. The defendants include a 20-year-old, two 26-year-olds, a 32-year-old, and a 48-year-old. Four are recognized political refugees from Jordan and Palestine, while the 48-year-old is a Cypriot citizen. They face multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit a felony, illegal possession of firearms and explosives, extortion, demanding property with threats, participation in a criminal organization, and assault causing bodily harm. Furthermore, the 48-year-old and one 26-year-old face additional charges regarding the assault of a 39-year-old European citizen in Pyla on the morning of January 17, which include carrying a knife, threats, and causing grievous bodily harm. Authorities are still searching for three additional suspects aged 26, 27, and 35. The court has scheduled the next hearing for July 6.
