Appeals court confirms convictions in two separate cases in Cyprus

The court rejected the defense's argument that the violation was accidental, ruling that his presence on a neighboring plot to remove wood was a conscious choice. In the second case, the Appeals Court confirmed a four-month suspended prison sentence for a man convicted of sending threatening messages to his brother. The defendant claimed his right to a fair trial was violated due to the 2018 amendment of his charges, but the court noted the change occurred years before the 2023 trial began. Both rulings were issued by the appellate court to uphold the initial decisions made by the Limassol and Nicosia District Courts respectively. The court maintained that the legal procedures followed were consistent with the requirements for a fair trial.
