Cyprus explores potential for direct flights with India

On Friday in New Delhi, Cyprus Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades, held meetings with Air India and IndiGo officials to discuss establishing direct flight connections to Cyprus. Minister Vafeades met with Air India representatives Rajinder Nath and Ashish Bhalla, as well as IndiGo CEO R K Singh, accompanied by Rajan Malhotra and Sarada Prasanna Khatua. Air India officials expressed initial interest but noted that feasibility depends on regional developments. IndiGo demonstrated higher interest and has requested the Indian government to review the existing air service agreement to enable operations to Cyprus. The potential for these flights was also discussed by Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their bilateral meeting. Prime Minister Modi reportedly received the proposal positively. The negotiations remain in the preliminary phase as both airlines assess the operational requirements.
