New parliament composition following Cyprus legislative elections
The final results of the Cyprus parliamentary elections have confirmed a shift in the legislative landscape, with six parties securing seats. The Democratic Rally (DISY) maintained its leading position with 17 seats, followed by AKEL with 15 seats. ELAM doubled its representation to 8 seats, while DIKO also secured 8 seats. Two new political movements, ALMA and Direct Democracy, entered parliament, each winning 4 seats. Historically significant parties such as EDEK, DIPA, the Green Party, and Volt failed to reach the threshold for parliamentary representation. Voter turnout remained significant, despite several parties and independent candidates falling short of the required threshold. The geographical distribution of seats underwent notable changes, with shifts in voting patterns impacting specific districts across the country. Official certification of these results is pending, marking the end of a highly competitive electoral cycle.
