Parliamentary election campaign concludes in Cyprus

The official election campaign in Cyprus concluded at midnight, marking the start of a mandatory period where political speeches and advertising are prohibited. The General Returning Officer, Elikkos Ilias, is the only authority permitted to issue official announcements, with violations punishable by up to one year in prison or a fine of 5,000 euros. Tomorrow, 570,000 eligible voters, including 595 enclave residents and 859 Turkish Cypriots, are expected to cast their ballots at 1,217 polling stations across the country and 13 locations abroad. Voters will choose among 752 candidates—743 representing party lists and 9 independent—to fill 56 parliamentary seats. Polling stations will operate from 07:00 to 18:00, with a one-hour break at noon. Initial results from smaller stations are expected by 18:30, while final seat distribution and party percentages should be clear by 21:30. The names of the elected members are anticipated to be confirmed after 01:30 the following day.
